Enjoy the Indian summer for a weekend

Mont Saint Michel

The holidays are over, or for the lucky ones will soon be. Before enjoying the much milder temperatures and before putting on your big coat, why not enjoy the Indian summer for a weekend? Here are some ideas for getaways that should please you!

Crossing the bay of Mont Saint Michel

mont saint michel

Breton or not, that is the question, but in any case we are attached to it. With nearly 3 million visitors per year, Mont Saint Michel is one of the most visited monuments in France. This magical place, as if out of nowhere, offers you beautiful walks and above all a breathtaking view of the entire bay! You have several ways to visit it. Stroll around to do some tourist window shopping and visit the Abbey (impossible to get lost, there is only one street), or admire the Mount during a crossing of the bay. For the latter, all you have to do is roll up your pants or put on your boots if the weather is less good, and follow the guide who will tell you his story and make you discover the famous “quicksand”!

Visit Saint Malo and its ramparts

And why not visit the North of Brittany and the unmissable Saint Malo and its ramparts? For a weekend you can stroll through the cobbled streets, enjoy the view of the ocean from the ramparts, climb to the top of the Grand Bé, enjoy a panorama of the city of Intramuros or put your fears aside and jump from the famous diving board of the seawater pool on Bon-Secours beach. You won’t have time to get bored!

Discover Guérande

How about exploring Guérande and its salt marshes? You can start your journey in the town of Guérande, a charming medieval town where the ramparts are impressive, sometimes nicknamed “the Carcassonne of the West”. Pass through the famous Porte Saint Michel to stroll through these cobbled streets to discover the dozens of small designer shops and salt sellers in the region. Then continue by discovering the marshes, on foot or by bike! A change of scenery guaranteed!

Did you know, “Gwenrann” in Breton means the “white country“, in reference to the white gold that is Guérande salt?

Discover Vannes

vannes

At the gateway to Morbihan, discover Vannes for a weekend that mixes culture, nature and hiking. Before heading out to the surrounding area, we recommend a weekend in the heart of the city. Start by strolling through the historic center through its charming alleys, having fun with the houses so close to St. Peter’s Square, enter its cathedral, discover its ramparts and wash house before ending the day with a drink on the port. You can also discover the many islands of the Gulf, such as the Ile d’Arz or the Ile aux Moines.
